Street battles have been ongoing for several days in Avdiivka, where the occupiers deploy small assault groups. The situation is dynamic and can change literally every hour.
Dmytro Lykhovyi, Head of the Public Relations Department of the “Tavria” Operational-Strategic Group, announced this on the air of the telethon on February 14.
Lykhoviy spoke about the situation on the Avdiivka direction of the front.
"As of now, the situation on the front line is dynamic and can change literally every hour. Our troops are exerting all possible efforts to hold certain positions," the representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said.
"In case the main logistic artery is cut off by the enemy, our command has provided for alternative supply routes," Lykhoviy noted.
Enemy tactics in the Avdiivka area
He also commented on the information from the Ukrainian Armed Forces about the enemy's transition in the Avdiivka area from “meat assaults” to the use of small assault groups.
"In Avdiivka, street fighting has been ongoing for several days. There, alternative methods are practically impossible. This is dictated by the situation - a certain change in tactics. At the same time, the situation is flexible, dynamic, it is tense but controlled. The enemy gradually includes armored groups in Avdiivka, in the north and south. On some days, they operate with small assault groups," the spokesperson for the “Tavria” Operational-Strategic Group said.
He noted that that the day before, on a small section of the front, in the Avdiivka direction, the occupiers deployed small assault infantry groups, but from five to six brigades simultaneously.
"These figures alone indicate the intensity of the fighting and the enemy onslaught concentrated there. Overall, in the Avdiivka direction, the enemy has concentrated about 50,000 personnel," Lykhoviy told.
