Russian forces managed to penetrate the Ukrainian defense line, but there is no talk of a critical failure or the loss of Chasiv Yar.
This was reported by Ivan Petrychak, Spokesman for the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, on the air of the telethon on October 22.
"Unfortunately, the enemy succeeded in breaking through our defense line, but there is no critical failure or loss of Chasiv Yar. Fierce fighting is ongoing," Petrychak stated.
He says that the situation has been tense for the past month. There has not been a single day without attempted assaults by the occupiers.
"Currently, due to weather changes - we understand that it’s sunny during the day and rainy at night and in the evening, with heavy fog - the occupiers once again used the weather to their advantage to cross the canal. That canal is now blocked. Efforts are underway to localize the situation. The brigade and all its forces are focused on eliminating the enemy in the area where they are currently blocked," the 24th Brigade representative explained.
He stresses that the situation on the front remains critically difficult. Russian forces are trying to break through the defense line in the area of responsibility of the 24th Brigade.
"The enemy has superior forces against us here, which makes it very difficult for our infantry," Petrychak noted.
In addition to infantry, the enemy is actively using various calibers of artillery systems. Every day, Russian aviation strikes Chasiv Yar and the 24th Brigade’s area of responsibility. This includes guided aerial bombs, which fall four to five at a time on one area, as well as unguided missiles covering large areas, and "Grad" rocket systems.
The 24th Brigade representative points out that the occupiers are trying to push the front line. The situation is extremely difficult, but remains under control.
