The Parliament has greenlighted the completion of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant
The Verkhovna Rada has allowed the state-owned company Energoatom to purchase two reactor units from Bulgaria, necessary for the completion of two energy blocks at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant, which are already 80% and 25% completed, respectively.
A total of 261 deputies voted in favor of the decision, with 226 votes required.The law also stipulates that the government will soon update the detailed construction cost estimate.
Afterward, the Parliament will reconsider the government's bill for the final approval of the NPP completion.The two energy blocks at the Khmelnytskyi NPP will have a nominal capacity of 2.2 GW.
Due to the high degree of readiness, the work required to connect energy block №3 is estimated to take 3 years. For energy block №4, the work will proceed simultaneously.
According to a survey conducted by the "Rating" group, over 80% of Ukrainians support the completion of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant.
