Russian military forces have attacked Mykolaiv for the first time with upgraded Shahed drones. These drones were equipped with 12-channel antennas.
This was reported by Head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim, in an interview on the Live TV channel.
"These were hits. We see that Mykolaiv has been attacked for the first time with Shaheds with 12-channel antennas. The maximum was eight before. So, they appeared in Russia from 2025. In my opinion, the Russians may be producing them themselves," the official said.
According to Kim, this is not a new type of "Shahed," but a new type of communication, as the regular "Shahed" has four antennas. It should be noted that the Russian army had earlier started using 8-channel drones to make them harder to shoot down.
The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration notes that on February 16, the 12-channel "Shahed" was used for the first time. A total of nine drones were launched. Some of them were shot down. However, there were hits with severe consequences. Specifically, this led to temporary heating problems for 100,000 people. It has now been fully restored. Electricity supply is currently operating without scheduled outages.
