Russian forces are intensifying assaults on the Zaporizhzhia front, aiming to reach the border of Dnipropetrovsk region.
This was stated by Vladyslav Voloshyn, Spokesman for the Defense Forces of South of Ukraine.
He emphasized the need to distinguish between Zaporizhzhia city and Zaporizhzhia region. The city is located relatively close to the frontline. Currently, the enemy has improved its systems for launching guided aerial bombs.
"Previously, these bombs would strike not far from the frontline, mainly targeting Orikhiv and Huliaipole. Now, the bombs of considerable power are hitting the city center of Zaporizhzhia," Voloshyn said.
Recently, there was a particularly severe strike that resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Throughout almost the entire month of October, the occupiers carried out near-daily guided bomb strikes on Zaporizhzhia. This is outright terror against civilians.
Regarding the offensive in Zaporizhzhia region, the enemy is preparing for large-scale assault operations, assembling, training, and organizing entire groups.
"In the past two weeks, the enemy has significantly intensified assault operations on one specific axis - the Vremivka sector. Every day, there are 25–30 assault actions in this area. The enemy uses tanks and armored fighting vehicles to support these assaults," the spokesman explained.
The Russians are employing small-group tactics, similar to those used in Soledar, Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Vuhledar. The occupiers have achieved some partial success.
Voloshyn believes it is likely they will attempt to gain control of southern Donetsk region, particularly the village of Velyka Novosilka, which is key to advancing toward the border of Dnipropetrovsk region.
