Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin explains that each side will have to ensure the ceasefire is respected. It will roughly follow the current front lines, and then discussions about territorial issues will begin.
This was stated by former Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin.
According to him, it should be understood that:
- there is no influence over the territories seized by Russia;
- there are no security guarantees, Europe can only provide minimal ones in the form of peacekeeping contingents, which are just a certain element of deterrence;
- the Americans are not supplying us with certain types of weapons, which they are currently negotiating with Russia;
- there may be pressure in terms of limiting our Defense Forces;
a demilitarized zone might be discussed, etc.
"There may be negotiations around this. But in these negotiations, there will obviously be compromises that will be perceived by our society as concessions to Russia," he concluded.
