"They Will Leave Behind Nothing, But Destruction”: Haidai about Situation in Luhansk Region

The Russian invaders are trying to launch the counteroffensive operation in Lyman area, so many freshly mobilized Russian recruits and PMC Wagner troops are now being deployed in Luhansk Region.

Serhii Haidai, the Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, shared some details about current situation in Luhansk Region.

According to him, the invaders are building concrete fortifications in Luhansk Region referred to by the Russian military as “the Wagner Line”.

Destruction in Luhansk Region

Several towns and cities in Luhansk Region were completely wiped out by Russian troops. According to the Head of Luhansk Regional Military Administration, these are Popasna, Bilohorivka, Toshkivka, and Novotoshkivske. Now the invaders use multiple rocket-launching artillery to destroy Stelmakhivka, from where they recently retreated pushed back by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

"Now Stelmakhivka is being wiped of the map, but even this is still not enough for the Russian troops. Luhansk Region has suffered the worst damage in terms of destruction. We could only guess what our towns and cities will look like, when they are finally driven from there. They rig everything with explosives, including roads, buildings and bridges. They will leave behind nothing, but destruction”, Haidai said

How Many Years Will it Take to Rebuild the Region

Serhii Haidai shared his forecast regarding how much time would it take to rebuild Luhansk Region, if the war ended over tomorrow.

"We would need around ten years for mine clearance. At the same time, it will take around four years to rebuild all critical infrastructure and around seven years to rebuild the whole Luhansk Region entirely. Still, the time will show”, he assumed.

What Area Are Still Under Russian Rule?

In the villages along the front line, the invaders are kicking locals out of their homes en masse and moving in themselves.

In the "rear", i.e. in the territory of Luhansk Region controlled by enemy before February 24th, the Russians are quickly repairing kindergartens, telling residents that the so-called "LPR" has done nothing during the last eight years, while Russia actually works to improve their lives.
