Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed the government to develop mechanisms for delivering grain to Syria to prevent a food crisis in the country. Previously, Russia's wheat exports to Syria were suspended due to Moscow's uncertainty regarding the new Syrian government.

President Zelenskyy announced Ukraine's assistance to Syria in his address on Saturday, December 14.

“We are ready to help Syria prevent a food crisis, particularly through the humanitarian program "Grain from Ukraine." I have instructed the government to organize food deliveries in collaboration with international organizations and partners who can contribute,” he stated.

Zelenskyy urged the international community to join efforts to stabilize the situation in Syria, emphasizing that the war, which Russia and Iran have supported for over a decade, must finally end.

“This is important for Ukraine: the calmer the situation is in such regions, the more actively the world can assist us in achieving peace,” he said.
