When There Will Be a Turning Point In the War and Which Weapon Will Play a Decisive Role: Expert Opinion

Military expert Petro Chernyk suggests that the turning point on the battlefield will happen in late spring or early summer, while the air force may be a real game-changing weapon, as military expert Petro Chernyk said in his exclusive interview with TSN.ua.

He emphasized that we should not underestimate the enemy. The Kremlin leader does not spare personnel and throws the troops into a meatgrinder. According to him, "it's too early for us to feel relief, since the enemy's pressure is fierce."

"In my opinion, we are still quite far from the turning point. I am very cautious in my forecast. In my opinion, it is the end of spring or the beginning of summer, when we are really "saturated" with heavy tanks and there is great hope that by then our air forces will be much stronger. It is fighter jets that will help turn the tide of the war. It is a game-changing weapon," he emphasized.

Chernyk compared the Russian army to the German army during the First World War. Drawing parallels between them, he believes that the Russian Armed Forces will face the same fate as the Germans.

"Ukrainian Verdun" will happen in the East. In 1916, a fierce battle between German and French troops in northern France near Verdun lasted for almost 10 years. In the end, the battle ended in a zero-sum game. Neither the French nor the Germans gained the upper hand, but a very serious event took place. The Germans lost their offensive potential, and, ultimately, they were defeated because their military machine broke down. I think this is happening now with the Russian troops. This is a very huge arc - the Vuhledar-Siversk-Bakhmut arc, here is one nuance. The Germans lost their strategic and military potential, but the war continued for another 2 years, since in the spring of 1918, they attempted another counteroffensive operation and only in November 1918 they faced the final defeat. This is the existential war for both Russians and us. Defeat on the battlefield would mean death for Putin," he said.
