Why is the enemy pressing so persistently in the Kreminna area: the expert explained the reason
The enemy wants the Ukrainian Armed Forces to transfer strategic reserves to the Lyman direction and prevent them from having forces to attack in the southern direction.
Military expert Pavlo Narozhny is talking about the Russian offensive
The Russian occupiers are currently exerting significant pressure in the Kreminna area, Lyman direction. This was explained by military expert Pavlo Narozhny on the air of a telethon on August 25 while commenting on the Russian advance and the possibility of the worst-case scenario.
"They are pressing very seriously there, we are talking about Kreminna, Lyman direction. Why is it important? It is the most distant point from the main direction of Ukraine's offensive. Our main direction is the south. They have concentrated a huge group here - about 100 thousand personnel. It's strategically well-positioned because it's very close to the border, there's a railroad, many roads, and they can use aviation for logistics. They are pressing heavily toward Lyman. If we consider the most pessimistic scenario, their objective is to make Ukraine shift its focus here. To move the strategic reserves here and leave no forces for an attack in the southern direction," explains the expert.
In the most pessimistic scenario, according to Narozhny, the occupiers could potentially push Ukrainian forces back to Sloviansk.
"We see a significant number of rivers here, including the Oskol River, and there's another river under Sviatohirsk. The most pessimistic scenario is that our forces could (theoretically, very deep) withdraw. But currently, there are no any signs of that happening; the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding their ground here... Comparatively with Bakhmut, it is a much more wooded place. That is, there are forests here, it is not a steppe, it is not the south, and it is much easier to defend here," the expert summarized.
