Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reports that a proposal for an unconditional ceasefire has existed since March 11, but Russia is prolonging the war.
He said this during his traditional evening address on Sunday, March 23.
"After the last meeting in Saudi Arabia, in Jeddah, it became absolutely clear to everyone in the world that Russia is the only one dragging out this war. The only one who brought it here and the only one who needs it to continue," Zelenskyy noted.
The Ukrainian President recalled that this day marks the second meeting of Ukrainian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia, which, according to him, is of a more technical nature this time. The Ukrainian side is represented by military officials, diplomats, and representatives of the Ministry of Energy.
"I just spoke with Rustem Umerov. He briefed me on the meeting and the progress of the negotiations. Our team is working in an absolutely constructive manner. The conversation was quite productive. The delegation’s work continues. But no matter what we discuss with our partners right now, we need to push Putin to issue a real order to stop the strikes. The one who brought this war here must be the one to take it away," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
