President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy states that the war in Ukraine is a war of double standards and paradoxes, particularly concerning neighboring states' interception of aerial threats.

He made this comment while speaking with leaders of local and regional councils in the Zakarpattia region.

As an example, he mentioned the United States, "which is clearly not a neighbor of Israel, intercepting missiles over their territory."

“We need to start somewhere — with something smaller. Let NATO countries, if NATO and the U.S. don’t mind, use NATO aircraft and air defense systems to intercept only those missiles and drones that head in their direction. After all, they could end up falling on their people,” the Head of State said.

According to him, if Kyiv could secure a “positive decision” on this, then they could later count on an allied shield — like the one Israel had when Iran attacked them with hundreds of missiles.

“Without an allied "Yes", Romania, for example, couldn’t independently decide to intercept (Russian missiles and drones - Ed.), since each neighboring country fears making a decision and being left alone,” the Ukrainian leader said.

Zelenskyy said that he had asked Poland to protect Stryi in the Lviv region, where gas storage facilities are located, as the country depends on gas supply. However, without a NATO decision, Warsaw did not agree to do this.
