President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke at the third Summit for Democracy and outlined the path to ensure peace in Ukraine and around the world.
The President noted that currently, "the key pillars of the modern rules-based world are unfortunately weakened, if not broken." And countries around the world are betting on strength rather than rules.
"However, strength and rules are not mutually exclusive. It's not "either-or." Without strength to punish rule-breaking, rules are ineffective. And without rules that constrain strength, strength runs amok. This is precisely what happened, particularly with Russia. A balance between strength and rules is needed. This is the balance that Ukraine proposes. This is the essence of our Peace Formula," he said.
The head of state refuted Russian claims that there are supposedly "great powers" in the world and emphasized the importance of every nation.
Zelenskyy is convinced that all countries of the world will be able to feel safe only when there is confidence that this security will be inviolable. This will become possible only when Ukraine ends this war not on the terms of the aggressor.
He announced the inaugural Global Peace Summit in Switzerland and invited countries to join the event.
"We must together compel the force, that has gone mad, to return to the rules, and to make the rules effective again in order to heal the world order from fragility. This is a vital interest for Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Indo-Pacific region, and all other parts of the world. When this works for Ukraine against such an aggressor, it works for everyone against any aggressor," Zelenskyy emphasized.
