In Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi district, rescuers pulled the body of a deceased man from under the rubble. This is the third victim of the Russian attack on Kyiv the night before last. Earlier, two deaths were known — a baby and a 32-year-old woman. Drones and missiles terrorized Kyiv for almost ten hours straight from Saturday night into Sunday.
Damage to civilian buildings was also reported in the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts. Many injured, some hospitalized. Among them was a pregnant woman who underwent emergency childbirth. For the first time during the entire full-scale war, debris damaged the government building. A fire broke out there over 800 square meters.
This was reported in a story by TSN correspondent Olena Matsiutska.
People say the Russians deliberately struck a residential building with a drone. This happened around 3 a.m. After the hit, a section from the fourth to the eighth floor was partially destroyed. A fire started. Security camera footage from the building across the street captured the moment of the explosion. Many managed to evacuate on their own from this very damaged building.
Oleksiy lives opposite and became alert after the sound of the first drone. Then the explosion — in his yard.
«I go out to the balcony to look, and everything is already on fire there, these floors are starting to blaze, crumbling, it was very eerie to watch,» he says.
Two deceased were found — a woman and a baby. Rescuers immediately began searching for those who might be under the rubble.
Seventeen apartments were completely destroyed, dozens more need repairs. All services have been working at the site since the night, with police taking statements from victims. In neighboring buildings, windows were blown out and balconies damaged.
Eleven locations were recorded with destruction across various districts of Kyiv.
It was a tough Sunday night for the capital. Rescuers were working at different sites even as missiles flew toward the capital. The city was shrouded in black smoke. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine also extinguished fires in warehouse premises. To put out the fires, aviation was involved — helicopters drew water from nearby bodies of water and repeatedly returned to the hotspots.
Debris damaged a house in Darnytsia district as well. A fire started, with partial destruction of two floors here. A wall was blown out, there are issues with the ceilings, and nearby apartments were affected. At least two victims here.
Smoke enveloped the city center too. Later, rescuers confirmed—there is damage to the Cabinet of Ministers building. The flames were extinguished. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko showed the damage from the outside and inside.
She also added that the world must respond to attacks on Ukraine’s civilian population — with sanctions pressure, as well as arms supplies — this is what will stop Russian terror.
