Expert reveals the purpose of Russia's daytime attacks

Russia uses drones not only for attacks but also for reconnaissance. Daytime attacks on Ukraine by Russia are conducted not only to strike targets but also to gather intelligence. The occupiers are attempting to identify our electronic warfare (EW) systems and air defense systems.

This was stated by Dmytro Sledyuk, head of the training department at the Dronarium Academy, during a broadcast on "KYIV24."

He emphasizes that the enemy's daytime attacks are quite "alarming" for our air defense. The reason is that until a drone hits its target, it is used for reconnaissance.

"Such attacks both disturb people and probe how our air defense operates. They locate our EW systems and try to identify more powerful air defense assets. So, this is a fairly expected tactic," he concluded.

As is known, during its attacks, Russia partially uses decoy drones to complicate the air situation and overload air defenses. Last night, over 400 "Shahed" drones were deployed, with the total number of UAVs reaching 810. Interceptor drones managed to neutralize more than 150 enemy drones.

"Of course, not everything is shot down yet, and we need to further strengthen our air defense. This is a priority task. The Russians maintain a level of 300–400 "Shaheds" in massive strikes, and our interceptors need to match that number. This is achievable — the production potential exists, finances and contracts are in place, and they are being provided. What’s needed is the scaling of the relevant units," he stressed.
