Russia launched a massive assault: Military reports on the situation at the front

Ukrainian servicemen described how the Russian occupiers launched a massive assault just before Easter. They shared details about the current situation at the front.

War in Ukraine

Crews of Ukrainian BM-21 Grad rocket systems from the 38th Separate Marine Brigade are currently engaged in what they call "sniper-like reactive warfare" on the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad section of the front.

The intensity of enemy attacks has somewhat decreased, but Russian howitzers, self-propelled artillery, and drones remain active. Ukrainian rocket artillery units, fully equipped, stay on standby in concealed positions around the clock, ready to move to attack points as soon as orders are received.

This was reported in a segment by TSN.

“Pylyp” is the commander of a wheeled, land-based combat vehicle. The emblem of the Marines is on the door of his Grad launcher.

He became a rocket artilleryman almost simultaneously with the formation of the 38th Separate Marine Brigade. Since then, the unit has fought in Donetsk region, supported the Ukrainian counteroffensive on the Vremivka Ledge, and provided fire support for fellow marines on the Kherson front, holding a bridgehead around Krynky on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Since the fall of 2024, they have been relentlessly targeting Russian forces near Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad around the clock.

“It was intense, yes! There were guided aerial bombs, airstrikes, and, of course, assaults. They came with armored vehicles and motorcycles,” said Olena Solonina, a communications officer of the 38th Separate Marine Brigade.

The war was likely at its most intense in this sector just before Easter, according to “Sribnyi,” a senior battery officer.

“It was constant booming! The ground was shaking! We probably hadn’t seen an offensive like that in the last two years,” he said.

At that time, southeast of Myrnohrad, the main forces of the Russian 20th Motorized Rifle Division launched an assault with armored vehicles, infantry, and several groups of motorcyclists, backed by intense artillery and air support. “They started with guided bombs at night, then pounded us with artillery. The artillery worked for four or five hours nonstop! It was impossible to move, advance, or do anything,” "Sribnyi" recounted.

Ukrainian forces repelled that attack, destroying significant amounts of enemy armor and dozens of Russian infantrymen. However, the war in this sector continues, though marines say the tempo has slightly decreased. The workload for the 38th Brigade’s rocket artillery crews remains unrelenting. When necessary, they can unleash a full salvo, blanketing an area of 8-9 hectares. But currently, on the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad front, the BM-21 crews of the 38th Marine Brigade fire with precision, as "Sribnyi" explains, “like snipers,” launching just a few rockets per target.

Actually, he is a gunner, in the crew of the Marines’ Grad. But "Barsuk,” has recently taken to riding near the rocket package on the way to and from missions, tightly gripping a carbine to watch for drones. The carbine is a decent defensive tool, the marines say, but only at close range. And Russian drones in the Pokrovsk area are everywhere.
