Ferrexpo's project Humanitarian Fund: Together with Ukraine’ was recognised by the independent Global Good Awards at the 2024 ceremony. Ferrexpo received a silver award in the Humanitarian Aid Champions category, and its humanitarian programme was the first in the world to receive the Distinguished accreditation from the Awards Trust Mark, which confirms compliance with the highest standards of ethical behavior and transparency.
«The Ferrexpo Humanitarian Fund was established in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, aiming to provide aid to employees, local communities, and displaced civilians. The project showcases Ferrexpo’s commitment to social responsibility and solidarity with Ukraine during challenging times», — noted the organizing committee of the Global Good Awards.
Over this time, Ferrexpo has contributed more than $25 million to the fund and supported more than 100 programmes and initiatives.
«When the full-scale invasion of Ukraine was launched, amid all the fear, we knew we could help and immediately set to work. Within [time period] I looked out of my office window and could see the first people passing by as they fled from the Eastern provinces. We were able to provide these people with shelter, food and medicines, and other needs. As the war has progressed, we have adapted our efforts to the changing needs of society. This has included donations to national emergencies such as Kakhovka and Ohmatdyt, providing backpacks and essentials for mobilised colleagues, working with community partners to rebuild infrastructure, building bomb shelters, and most lately, the establishment of a Veteran’s rehabilitation programme», — said Yuriy Khimich, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Ferrexpo Group.
As a reminder, Ferrexpo, which owns Poltava, Yeristovo and Bilanovo mining and processing plants in Ukraine, increased production to 5,125,034 tonnes in the first three quarters of 2024, up 47% year-on-year.
