President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed an open letter to the Russian leader Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that Ukraine is offering to end the war. The Kremlin claims it has «taken note» of the message, yet defiantly accuses Kyiv of lacking a desire for peace.

The statement came from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, the «führer» Vladimir Putin has been briefed on the letter. However, he declined to comment on the Kremlin leader’s reaction, stating he would not «get ahead of things.»

Although the Ukrainian leader stressed in his letter that the war must be brought to an end through negotiations, Moscow continues to push its narrative that «talks are on pause» and that whether they resume «depends on Kyiv.»

«A significant amount of homework needs to be done to advance the Ukrainian issue along the peace track,» Peskov remarked cynically.

He further claimed that the Russian side allegedly «continues to communicate with the Americans through existing channels,» while there are supposedly «no official channels of communication with Ukraine.»
