The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a new Law "On Public Procurement" (No. 11520), a key element of the country's Euro-integration course and a vital component of Ukraine’s EU accession negotiation process.

The parliament backed the decision on May 27, according to the Verkhovna Rada's official website.

The document provides for a comprehensive overhaul of the public procurement system in line with European standards, harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with EU law.

The law is designed to adapt the national procurement system to the requirements necessary for Ukraine’s further progress toward full European Union membership.

The Verkhovna Rada emphasizes that the adoption of the document goes beyond a technical update of procedures; it is a strategic decision aimed at increasing transparency, competitiveness, and efficiency in the use of public funds. The law is also intended to reinforce the trust of international partners and create additional control mechanisms over the use of budgetary resources.

The new law takes on particular significance in the context of Ukraine's postwar reconstruction. Since a significant portion of state and international funding will flow through public procurement mechanisms, aligning the system with EU standards is seen as a prerequisite for the transparent and efficient use of funds.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development served as the primary committee responsible for reviewing the bill.
