President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine anticipates a positive decision on its further European integration path soon.

He made this statement after a phone call with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

“I spoke with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Thank you for your condolences and solidarity with our people after such a cynical and brutal Russian attack. Last night was one of the largest strikes on Ukraine. The Russians chose Kyiv as their primary target. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing. We are grateful to everyone supporting Ukraine now and speaking out,” Zelenskyy said.

According to him, the conversation covered diplomatic efforts aimed at stopping Russian aggression and ensuring the safety of Ukrainians.

“As long as Russia does not take real steps toward peace, the pressure on it must increase. Ursula informed me about the preparation of the EU’s 19th sanctions package and coordination with other partners,” the President added.

Zelenskyy separately emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s EU integration. “We discussed our European integration path and the simultaneous opening of a negotiation cluster for Ukraine and Moldova. We expect a positive decision in the near future,” he stressed.
