President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that while China keeps a non-confrontational tone toward Ukraine, it is not taking practical steps to help end the conflict, despite claims of supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty.
The president made the comments during a meeting with journalists.
Zelenskyy noted that China publicly stresses respect for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and claims it will not provide weapons to Russia. Yet, the president emphasized, Beijing has taken no real action to support Ukraine.
Zelenskyy highlighted cases of China providing Russia with machine tools and components, along with the Chinese market being open for Russia to buy cheap drones. Ukraine has repeatedly brought up these concerns in talks with Beijing.
The president said that China justifies its stance as neutral and open to all, yet Ukraine has no access to similar products.
According to Zelenskyy, the dialogue with China remains calm and non-confrontational — but it still fails to push the war toward a real resolution.
