Lavrov made a series of statements about the West, the war, sanctions and ties with Washington, accusing Europe and the United States of threatening Russia’s security, Russian propaganda outlet TASS reported.
What Lavrov said this time
According to Lavrov, Russia is allegedly being forced to “ensure its own security reliably” amid what he described as threats from European countries.
“The West has unleashed a global war against Russia and is feverishly trying to punish its partners,” he said.
Lavrov said Russia would not allow any weapons that, in his words, "threaten Russian security interests" to be deployed on Ukrainian territory.
He also criticized US sanctions policy, calling restrictions on Russian oil companies an “unfair attempt to suppress competitors” and accusing Washington of trying to control Russia’s military-technical cooperation with India and other BRICS countries.
Lavrov also commented on prospects for economic ties with the United States.
Russia sees no “bright future” in economic relations with the United States, Lavrov said, adding that even after a change of administration in Washington the “anti-Russian course has not changed”.
He claimed the administration of Donald Trump “not only does not challenge laws adopted by Joe Biden to punish Russia but is also introducing new sanctions”, while saying Moscow remains open to cooperation with Washington but that “the American side itself creates artificial obstacles”.
Lavrov also accused the West of inventing the notion of a “shadow fleet” and attempting to detain ships as part of what he described as a struggle to preserve lost global dominance.
