President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has publicly called on the self-proclaimed leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to cease all technical support for Russian attacks on Ukraine and halt fuel supplies for the needs of the Russian military.
Zelenskyy made the statement during an interview with TSN host Alla Mazur.
According to the president, the issue of using Belarusian infrastructure in the interests of Russian forces has persisted for a long time.
«Technically helping to strike Ukraine»
«The issue with the repeaters is nothing new. This is a long-standing process, and Ukraine alone has suffered the casualties. Technically, they coordinate, and technically, they facilitate more precise strikes by Russian and Iranian drones targeting Ukrainian society. That is exactly what is happening,» Zelenskyy said.
The president said that Kyiv had repeatedly conveyed corresponding signals to Minsk through closed communication channels.
«When I act publicly—and this is central to my strategy—I precede it with non-public, de-escalating steps. At the level of intelligence, the military, and leadership, Belarus received the message: „Stop helping the Russians,“ Zelenskyy said.
According to him, Ukrainian intelligence services possess all the necessary information regarding these processes.
«He can keep his apologies to himself»
The president also commented on the explanations and apologies from Alexander Lukashenko.
«Lukashenko received this information. Beyond mere words, he must demonstrate de-escalation. Not just with the words „I apologize.“ He can keep his „I apologize“ to himself. That stopped working after day one of the war. I made this clear through our intelligence services and the Security Service—we maintain contact at various levels,» Zelenskyy said.
Demand to shut down repeaters
The president said that Ukraine has issued a specific demand to Belarus regarding the termination of technical assistance to Russia.
«Step number one is zero technical support. Direct support, the repeaters. Turn them off and show us that this has been removed,» he stated.
Zelenskyy stressed that the Ukrainian side had repeatedly raised this issue before, but has now moved to public statements.
«We have spoken about this on numerous occasions. Now we have reached the stage of a public signal,» the president noted.
He also made it clear that he expects a swift response.
«This will all unfold within a week. Either they do it, or we will,» the head of state warned.
Ukraine demands halt to fuel supplies for Russian military
In addition to the issue of the repeaters, the president also raised the topic of fuel supplies for Russian troops.
«We are also sending them a signal: please stop supplying fuel for the Russian army,» Zelenskyy said.
According to him, Ukraine expects concrete steps from Minsk, rather than more explanations or statements.
