Artillery shelling from Belarus is entirely possible. However, the self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, is well aware of the price he would pay for such an attack.

This opinion was shared by Oleksii Hetman, a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war and retired major, in a comment to 24 Kanal.

According to Hetman, the critical factor in such shelling would be whether it is classified as an act of aggression or a mere provocation.

He noted that Ukrainian authorities have already directly warned Lukashenko: if Belarus is officially recognized as an aggressor under UN resolutions, Ukraine may take any necessary measures to ensure its security.

The expert pointed out that Lukashenko is closely watching Ukrainian drones strike targets across Russia and understands that similar strikes on Belarus would be even more devastating.

"The Russians can't handle our strikes. Belarusian air defense is significantly worse, and the distance is much shorter. This means the strikes will be even more powerful," Hetman said.

The expert believes the Belarusian dictator will not risk a full-scale intervention.

"There are very few routes on the Belarusian border where heavy equipment can pass. These areas are well-fortified and heavily mined. Therefore, the chances of advancing toward Ukrainian cities from there are zero. Besides, a massive retaliatory strike would hit Belarus immediately," he said.
