President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported increased military activity on Belarusian territory and renewed Russian attempts to drag the neighboring state into the war against Ukraine.
He shared this via Telegram following a report from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
Zelenskyy said that attempts by the occupiers to regroup forces to compensate for significant personnel losses have been recorded. He also reported that, according to intelligence data, roads are being actively built in the border areas of Belarus toward the Ukrainian border, and artillery positions are being prepared.
"According to intelligence, roads to Ukrainian territory are being constructed and artillery positions are being established in the Belarusian borderlands. We believe Russia will once again attempt to drag Belarus into its war," the president said.
He also stressed that the de facto leadership of Belarus will be warned through appropriate channels, and Ukraine is ready to fiercely defend its independence.
"I have instructed that the de facto leadership of Belarus be warned through the relevant channels regarding Ukraine's readiness to defend its land and independence. The nature and consequences of recent events in Venezuela should deter the leadership of Belarus from making mistakes," Zelenskyy added.
