The situation in Ukraine’s energy system remains tense, especially in frontline and border regions that are regularly hit by Russian attacks.
The statement was made by Oleksandr Havva, Chief Executive of Ukraine’s JSC Market Operator, speaking on the broadcaster We — Ukraine.
He said the most difficult conditions are in regions where the distance required to strike energy facilities is minimal, leading to significant damage to infrastructure.
«The situation in the energy system remains difficult. We are primarily referring to frontline and border regions, where the range for enemy strikes is minimal and, as a result, damage to energy infrastructure is much greater. Over the past day, the enemy attacked energy infrastructure in the Kharkiv region, ” Havva said.
He said the strikes had worsened power supply in the region. Over two consecutive nights, Russian forces also struck energy facilities in Ukraine’s Chernihiv region.
«This is complicating emergency repair work and has unfortunately left most consumers in the city of Slavutych still without power, ” he said.
Havva said restoration work was continuing both in regions hit by recent shelling and in areas damaged during earlier large-scale missile and drone attacks.
«Restoration work is ongoing in various regions, including Kyiv and Odesa regions. At the same time, forced emergency power cuts were still in place in parts of the Kyiv region this morning, while in the Odesa region the distribution system operator continues to impose network restrictions, ” Havva said.
