Armed Forces of Ukraine Retreated – Lysychansk Is Seized by Russian Troops
On Sunday, July 3rd, the Armed Forces of Ukraine retreated from Lysychansk, Luhansk Region after violent and unequal battle. Now the city is secured by the Russian troops.
“After intense battles, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had to retreat from established bounds and positions. Due to manifold numerical superiority of the invasion army in terms of artillery, aircrafts, multiple rocket launcher systems, ordinance and personnel, continued defence of the city would result in the fatal consequences. For the sake of saving the lives of Ukrainian defenders, it was decided to retreat”, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
The General Staff emphasized that Ukraine would “continue to fight. Unfortunately, patriotism and will of adamant are not enough to succeed – we need material and technical resources. Defenders of Luhansk Region and other parts of our country courageously perform their civil and military duty. We will return and we will definitely prevail!”
Meanwhile, during his briefing on July 3rd, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the President of Ukraine, warned that the Ukrainian government might lose control over the entire Luhansk Region.
“This is a real concern. Entire territory of Luhansk Region may be seized. We indeed are facing such risk and we realize it. The situation is changing daily. We have many cases, where towns and villages, unfortunately ruined by the war, have been passing from hand to hand every day”, Zelenskyi noted.
