Attacks on Kyiv every night: An expert names Russia’s main objective

An analyst believes that Russia decided to launch mass attacks on the capital after certain calculations.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has attacked Ukraine with nearly 27,000 drones, including only those that were shot down by Ukrainian Defense Forces. As is known, some of these UAVs are "Shaheds."

According to military expert Roman Svitan, Russia has now reached a nominal operational mode in this direction.

"Shaheds" are being manufactured in three shifts, 24/7. The number of facilities where large-scale assembly work is taking place has increased. It is clear that drones will continue to attack Ukraine until the end of the war, but the number of destroyed UAVs will also increase," Svitan says in a comment to TSN.ua.

He predicts that Ukraine has a chance to combat such attacks by increasing its EW (electronic warfare) capabilities.

Why the capital is attacked more intensely

In response to this question, Roman Svitan provides a clear answer.

"Their, the occupiers', task now is to pressure society, forcing it to capitulate. And where is the best place to use drones? Where there is a dense urban development. That is, the capital. Simple arithmetic. What needs to be done now is to organize a double-ring defense around the capital, invest in it, and be ready for the Russians to "terrorize" Kyiv. In order for drones and missiles to be shot down outside the city, the city's defense system must be reconsidered," the analyst says.

Additionally, Svitan mentions that if the war pauses, the enemy will most likely try to quickly accumulate more strike UAVs.

"We can shoot down 200-300 UAVs, but if the Russians gather a thousand drones, difficulties will arise. "Shaheds" have become the main type of terrorist threat, a mechanism of pressure on the civilian population. The Russians have understood this," the expert concludes.
