Expert Explains How F-16 Fighter Jets May Affect Ukraine’s Counteroffensive Operations

There are many pre-requisites will successful counteroffensive operations, the expert says.

Ukraine needs state-of-art F-16 fighter jets for a successful counteroffensive operations to close the skies over its positions, as military expert Vladyslav Selezniov said in his interview with Obozrevatel.

"On the one hand, Ukrainian artillery is working, on the other hand, armored vehicles are actively involved - and we remember that a ship with 60 Bradley tanks is already moving to Ukraine. If we assume that all these troops are covered from the sky by fighter jets, such as F-16, then we will have all the prerequisites for a successful counteroffensive operation," Selezniov explained.

The expert noted that during a counteroffensive operation to liberate certain territories, resources are needed for at least four weeks of active hostilities. In general, 5 to 7 individual operations may be required to fully liberate Ukraine.

"The success of every such operation depends on availability of resources for four weeks of active combat engagements. These are artillery and ammunition, tanks and other types of armored combat vehicles," he added.
