Ukrainians should not expect an apocalyptic winter, as power outages will last no more than 12 hours a day.
This prediction was made by energy expert Hennadiy Ryabtsev, as reported by "RBC-Ukraine."
According to his forecast, if DTEK can restore 60% of the destroyed generation capacity, it will be a significant achievement.
"But there are still the "Centrenergo" and "Ukrhydroenergo" plants, and they cannot provide similar guarantees. Therefore, Ukraine will still enter the heating season with a significant deficit," the expert says.
As Ryabtsev notes, DTEK accounts for 5 to 6 GW out of the 9 GW of destroyed generation, meaning that restoring 60% would "bring back" about 3 GW. As a result, Ukraine will face a shortage of approximately 4-5 GW. Therefore, outage schedules will be implemented in three to four stages.
"Realistic forecasts indicate that we will sometimes be without electricity for 8 to 12 hours a day. There are no apocalyptic scenarios expected, even considering the additional problems that Russian shelling might cause. This is a realistic scenario for the heating season," the expert said.
