Ukraine faces difficulties in drone production: the reason revealed

Ukraine must move away from using components from unfriendly countries and seek alternatives in other markets.

The country is facing problems in securing spare parts for drones due to a shortage of critical components

Ukraine is encountering difficulties in drone production due to a shortage of critical spare parts.

This was stated by Valeriy Borovyk, a UAV developer, on the air of KYIV24.

"Chip production is very expensive and has been invested in by Western companies. Controllers, cameras, and other critical components currently have no promising production in Ukraine, even under conditions of prolonged war. The reason is the absence of a long-term consumer and investors’ reluctance to invest in a country at war," he explained.

Additionally, Ukraine is experiencing difficulties in sourcing components from China, where strict control over dollar payments is in place. According to Borovyk, sometimes deliveries have to be arranged through third countries.

"We thought that equipment could be delivered in 3-4 months, but it is much more complicated than it seems," he added.
