Air balloons alongside "Shaheds" over Ukraine launched by the Russians: what makes them dangerous

On the night of February 6, 2025, the Russians launched air balloons into Ukrainian airspace along with "Shahed" drones.

This was reported on social media.

Given that some of them arrived from the north, it is likely that saboteurs were also involved in launching them.

One balloon was detected near the Prymorskyi district of Odesa, while another was already far out at sea, 500 km from Turkey.

"A corner reflector bounces back the radar signal, allowing our radar station to detect an object in the air. Thus, the radar reflectors on each balloon serve to increase visibility. The enemy is using this tactic to clutter our airspace and complicate the work of air defense forces," the report states.
