Russian president Vladimir Putin will deploy troops in Belarus to drag the neighboring country into the war and threaten NATO states.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a briefing following his meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy in Kyiv.
"I am warning about this completely openly, frankly - I understand what will happen. You will see - he [Putin] will provoke other countries. Poland may be next, or the Baltic states. And this is not just some more rhetoric. You will see in the spring, summer, or autumn - he will deploy forces on Belarusian territory," the Ukrainian President said.
According to him, Europeans and Americans will perceive this as an intimidation tactic against NATO countries, but in reality, Putin will be doing everything to drag Belarus into the war.
"He [Putin] will think of ways to provoke them. I don’t know if there will be an invasion, but in any case, this is how he will pull Belarus into the war. Although, in my opinion, after they attacked Ukraine with missiles, they were already in this war, but their people were not, and their military was not - at least not yet. But Putin really wants this," Zelenskyy stressed.
