West Must Supply Ukraine with ATACMS Missiles to Protect Critical Infrastructure – Vershbow
The Western countries should also help Ukraine hold the initiative on the battlefield.
If Ukraine receives long-range missiles from Western partners, it will be able to efficiently prevent Russian terrorist missiles strikes against Ukrainian critical infrastructure, as Alexander Vershbow, the former NATO Deputy Secretary General and U.S. Ambassador to Russia said during the "Ukraine in Washington and Beyond" even, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, Western countries should reconsider their decisions regarding the supply of particular weaponry to Ukraine, which would narrow the Russian’s ability to use territories located close to the battlefield, including annexed Crimea, to attack the critical infrastructure in Ukraine without fear of a retaliatory strike.
Vershbow noted that this primarily concerns ATACMS missiles, which can hit Russian firing positions used to bomb Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
Vershbow also added that Western nations should help Ukraine hold the initiative on the battlefield and continually pressure Russia in order not to allow its troops to get time to rest and rearm.
"Maintaining military pressure on Russia with the victory as a clear goal in mind cannot be anything vague. The goal must be victory for Ukraine," he said.
He added that the U.S. and its allies were considering new sanctions against Russia for its terrorist attacks against Ukraine's civilian infrastructure.
