"500-Kg Bombs": Ukrainian Air Forces Reported New Air Threat for Ukraine

Therefore, Ukraine has to protect its skies against the aircraft bombs destroying everything on its way.

Russia has millions of such bombs in storage, which creates a risk of repeating the Mariupol scenario, as Yurii Ihnat, the Spokesman of Ukrainian Air Force Command, stated during his appearance in UATogether telethon.

"The key current task of our Air Forces, anti-missile and anti-aircraft systems and fighter jets is to protect our skies against the enemy aircrafts”, Ihnat noted.

According to him, if the Russian air forces use free-falling bombs instead of missiles, this creates a risk of repeating the Mariupol scenario, since Russia has millions of such bombs in storage.

"We’ve already seen what happened to Mariupol and other frontline cities, where the Russian tactical air forces may operate in our skies and drop 500-kg aircraft bombs destroying everything on their way”, the Spokesman of Ukrainian Air Force Command remained.
According to him, no Russian aircraft has entered the Ukrainian airspace during the last 2,5 months, since the skies is fully controlled by the Ukrainian forces.

"We have to wait until the Western partners provide us with sufficient air defence systems and fighter jets so we can close our skies with our own forces”, Ihnat added.
