President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy provided his first comments following closed-door negotiations in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
"A very good meeting. It is important that it was constructive, and the atmosphere matters. We are talking, discussing Ukraine. We talked, of course, exclusively about Ukraine and Ukrainians - about how to support them, about how strong Ukrainians are in withstanding this onslaught of Russian aggression. And about the fact that we all want peace. But for us, it is very important - and this is our position - that the peace be just for all of us and that there be no chance for Russia, Putin, or any other aggressor to ever return. This is the most important thing: a just peace and strong security guarantees for Ukraine. Therefore, we will continue to work," Zelenskyy stated.
The President noted that he and Trump are currently in the process of discussing various issues.
"We need to work more, meet more often. Our teams will also work. It’s too early to talk about anything specific yet. Ukraine’s positions are clear. It is very important that our partners hear our positions from us and not from a third party. Without Ukraine, this just peace and any agreements are impossible. Our partners hear this, and I am very glad that they understand," the President said.
