Defense of Pokrovsk: DeepState on Russia’s key objective for further advance

Capturing the village of Shevchenko, near Pokrovsk, would allow Russian forces to break into operational space and gain an additional opportunity to assault the city.

The analytical portal DeepState has issued a warning about the dire situation on the Pokrovsk front.

According to DeepState, after capturing Selydove, the Russian occupiers have continued to develop their offensive, achieving significant gains. Currently, several areas of concentrated enemy activity are identified:

The Sukhy Yar–Lysivka–Dachenske sector southeast of Pokrovsk

The Petrivka–Zhovte–Novopustynka sector, southwest of the city.

"While Ukrainian Defense Forces are relatively successful in containing the enemy's pressure in the first area, the situation in the second area is becoming critical with troubling prospects," the portal states.

Reports indicate that Russian forces have occupied the village of Zhovte and are continuing assaults toward Novopustynka and Novotroitske.

"More concerning, however, are enemy attacks on Shevchenko, where their presence has been observed on the outskirts. Capturing this village is a critical objective for the enemy, as it would open operational space for further advances on Pokrovsk and create an additional pathway for assaulting the city," DeepState warns.

The portal predicts increased Russian efforts to disrupt logistics to Pokrovsk, similar to their tactics in other settlements.

"Daily, a significant number of vehicles and infantry are committed to assaults. Unfortunately, relentless pressure yields results. Only the effective use of forces and proper organization of defense can make it possible to restrain the enemy, where "competing" with them in "quantity" is pointless and makes no sense," the analysts advise.

Also, in case of success in the area of the village Shevchenko, they could redirect additional resources to reinforce their grouping in the area. Moreover, if they occupy Kurakhove and Velyka Novosilka, the enemy may free up considerable forces to advance on Pokrovsk.
