As of June 30th, the situation in Lysychansk is described as extremely difficult due to never-ending Russian shellfire, although the city is not surrounded, and the invaders have yet failed to enter and engage in street fights. Difficult Situation in Lysychansk and New “Governor” in Sievierodonetsk: Recent Developments in Luhansk Region

The Russian troops have already approached the outskirts of Lysychansk, but yet failed to enter the city and engage in street fights, Serhii Haidai, the Head of Luhansk Regional Administration, reports.

"The situation (in Lysychansk) is extremely difficult, the city is under heavy shellfire. The Russian troops have approached the city and deployed their artillery in several different directions. Following their usual practice, they have already reported surrounding the city and securing a half of it. This is not true”, the Head of Regional Administration emphasized.

According to Haidai, the enemy has deployed multiple artillery and personnel units near Lysychansk, so the local residents are strongly advised to stay in the shelters as such as they can.

Organized evacuation from the city is currently impossible, since the invaders are using remote mine-laying systems to rig the roads with explosives.

"Lysychansk has much more favourable geographic location with greater elevation and better defence positions than Sievierodonetsk. We trust in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in endurance of our guys and hope that they will hold their ranks there. There are hell of a lot of Russians, they just crawl out of woodwork. They’ve also deployed incredible number of artillery systems.

Haidai also reported that the invaders had already appointed a new “city governor” in Sievierodonetsk, who barely finished the secondary school and had no experience of managing the city. As for Sievierodonetsk infrastructure, according to Haidai, it’s totally destroyed and probably won’t be ever restored by the invaders.

“I strongly advise those willing to evacuate (from Sievierodonetsk) to do it now, even if the only available route is through Russia. You may then consider travelling through Georgia or other countries. The most important thing is to leave the city, because it’s going to be no good now”, the Head of Regional Administration warned.
