Famous TV host and traveler Dmitriy Komarov got under enemy shellfire in Kherson.
In particular, after Kherson was liberated from the invaders, the journalist went to the city. When President Vladimir Zelenskyi arrived in Kherson, Komarov decided to go to the central square, where a meeting with the Ukrainian leader taking place. The TV host admitted that all the time he was thinking that the invaders might bomb the city.
"I kept thinking about shellfire threat. I talked to the military and police officers on the spot. The unanimous opinion was that it was a brave and risky, but also incredibly important move by the President. This was a demonstration support", Komarov said on his Instagram.
After the press conference, the journalist drove to the Antonov Bridge to interview the local residents, but two hours after Zelenskyi's visit, the enemy insidiously shelled the city.
"In Ukraine, the President walks out into a crowd in a city within the reach of hostile artillery units. I know how dangerous it is from my own experience. After the press conference we drove to the Antonov Bridge and got under shellfire. I was interviewing a family living near the bridge, when walls trembled, and the windowpanes shuttered We rushed outdoors and hid with the children behind a wall on the opposite side from Dnipro. There we witnessed few more explosions (judging by the sound, these were mortar shell). We came under fire two hours after the President's visit," the journalist shared.
Komarov stressed that the fact that the President consciously take risk when he visits settlements close to the frontline is extremely important as a demonstration of great support.
The journalist also stressed that it was the Ukrainian defenders who liberated the city, not the Russians who left it on their own.
"I don't like the wording 'the Russians left on their own', because it's not true. They were forced to do it, we made it impossible for them to stay. They wouldn't have gone anywhere if not for the brilliant work of the Ukrainians. Just like the Russians were forced to flee the Kyev and Kharkov regions after the loud statements about "seizing Kyev in 3 days". So this is not an accident, but a winning move for Ukraine and losing step for Russia," the TV host emphasized.
