In the city, the Head of the State talked to the Ukrainian military.
"We are moving forward. We are ready for peace, peace for our whole country," he stressed, addressing the defenders in front of the administration building on the city's main square, where the Ukrainian flag is now flying again.
Initially, when asked why he decided to come to Kherson instead of congratulating the city on its liberation from Kyev, Zelenskyi replied: "What about famous Kherson's watermelons?".
Later, he went on to explain that it was "important for him to be here and support the people of Kherson".
"I have to support people so that they feel that we are not just talking and not just promising. I want them to know that we have actually come back here to raise our flag. We also want to get some emotion, some energy from people, because it is the best motivation," the Ukrainian President said.
When asked where Ukrainian troops would move next, Zelenskyi said that it wouldn’t be Moscow.
"Nowhere around Moscow. We are not interested in seizing the territory of another country," the President said.
