Zhdanov Refuted Russian Fakes about AFU’s Offensive: Russia Intimidates Its Own Citizens
It is much easier to control the society when it is intimidated, the military expert believes.
Russian propaganda is spreading the rumors about potential attack by the AFU against the Russian borderline cities such as Belgorod or Bryansk to intimidate its own population. The Kremlin recreates exactly famous “1984” novel by George Orwell, as military expert Oleh Zhdanov said this in an exclusive commentary for TSN.ua.
"The purpose of this campaign is intimidation of society. This is an internal informational and psychological operation aimed stabilizing the internal situation in the Russian Federation. The fact is that the borderline Russian region, such as Kursk, Bryansk, Belgorod and Rostov, indeed suffer from the ongoing hostilities. The military presence, convoys of military cargos, social and general infrastructure overloaded due to military deployment and maneuvers – all these are getting on the nerves of the residents of these regions. People understand that this is a war going on rather than some kind of "special military operation". They know the real situation better than anyone else, and information about casualties among the Russian military is leaking out there," the expert said.
According to Zhdanov, the Russian military leadership sometimes even resorts to attacks against its own territory, so the people "don’t get too relaxed" and do not spread negative information, such as shellfire in Belgorod to intimidate the local population.
"People are then told to take shovels and go dig trenches, and they go and dig. When a society is intimidated, it is much easier to control... George Orwell wrote it all in 1984. They act exactly as the Orwell once wrote, recreate his book in real life," Zhdanov explained.
