A different battle tactic now dominates the front. All because of the massive use of drones by both sides.
Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, said this in an interview with "The Times".
According to him, drones are now deadlier than artillery or aviation. Drones have altered the geography and tactics of the battlefield, while infantry has entrenched itself deeper.
"Drones currently kill more soldiers from both sides than anything else... They have also created a scenario where drones can see almost everything, not only on the front line but also at depths of 10 to 30 km on both sides," Pavlyuk said.
He explains that now neither side can create a large striking force without being noticed and targeted by long-range strike drones and artillery.
"We've abandoned the movement by battalions or even companies," added the general.
Moreover, he notes that the strengthening of sanctions could hinder Russia's ability to increase its stocks of missiles used for strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
"Exhaustion on the battlefield won't bring an end to the war. The end of the war will come through technological advantage and real isolation of Russia. Right now, many countries are sitting idle, waiting to see how this war ends, simply hoping it won't affect them," the Commander said.
