"February and March Will Be Marked by Active Combat Operations": Intelligence Reports on Where the Hostilities is Expected to Escalate
Intelligence does not rule out an offensive by the invasion forces in the Kupiansk sector.
In the coming months, Ukrainian intelligence predicts active fighting in the Donetsk and Luhansk sectors, as Deputy Chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Major General Vadym Skibitskyi said in an interview with Ukrinform.
"There will be active hostilities in the Donetsk and Luhansk sectors. Gerasimov failed to fulfill the task that was set for him. Now his first task is the complete occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions," Skibitskyi said, commenting on Putin's order to seize Donbas by March.
In addition, according to intelligence, the enemy is redeploying the 2nd Mechanized Division of the 1st Tank Army from Belarus. Therefore, there is a risk of a new attempt by the invaders to attack across the border in the Kupiansk direction.
"Yes, February-March will be marked by active hostilities in Luhansk and Donetsk regions. We are still seeing the deployment of the 2nd Mechanized Division of the 1st Tank Army from Belarus. We do not rule out that they may try to enter our territory through the border again, this is the Kupiansk direction, and it is possible that they may resume offensive actions to regain control of the territories previously seized by the enemy in the Luhansk region," Skibitskyi said.
