Florida Governor Calls War in Ukraine a 'Territorial Dispute': Foreign Ministry Responds
DeSantis is invited to Ukraine.
Republican Governor of the US State of Florida Ron DeSantis said that the war in Ukraine was a "territorial dispute" and therefore not important for the US. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited DeSantis to visit Ukraine.
This is stated in a Fox News article and a statement by Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko.
According to him, such intervention is not in the interests of the United States, and he called the war itself a "territorial dispute." This was the governor's response to a question about how Washington should respond to Russia's war in Ukraine.
Ron DeSantis says that the United States has "many vital national interests." These include border security, energy independence, and containing China.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman invited DeSantis to visit Ukraine to "better understand Russia's full-scale invasion and the threats it poses to U.S. interests."
"We are confident that as a former military man who has been in a combat zone, Governor Ron DeSantis knows the difference between a dispute and a war," Nikolenko emphasized.
