Forests Fires Erupted Around Chornobyl Nuclear Plant: Increase of Cesium Concentration In The Air Is Recorded

New ignitions were spotted around the Chornobyl nuclear plant on Wednesday. The presence of Russian militaries and ongoing war actions obstruct the work of Ukrainian fire fighters.

The worsening of security and radiation parameters was recorded, as the occupiers continue severe breaking of radiation security norms in exclusion zone.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Parliament has already reported about 7 fires inside exclusion zone, recorded by the European satellites. The fires, probably, erupted from shelling or intentional burning of Russian militaries.

These fires are especially dangerous in the places of infrastructure, conducting radioactive wastes and territories within 10km of the plant.

At the same time, Ukraine told the IAEA that SES firefighters had tried unsuccessfully to extinguish forest fires near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, and that an increase in cesium concentrations in the air had been found in Kyiv and at two NPP sites.
