Russia has designated the Kerch Bridge as a priority object for security, although the situation around the crossing remains "more or less stable."
This was reported by Spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Dmytro Pletenchuk, according to "Ukrinform".
He says that Russian forces have begun transporting fuel tanks across the bridge, which had not been observed before, Pletenchuk emphasized.
"This puts significant strain on this structure. Considering the previous damage it sustained, this is quite risky. There were times when these fuel tanks remained stationary for months and could not be moved onto the bridge. Their primary means of transport was ferries, but these are no longer operational thanks to our efforts. As a result, their options are quite limited," the military highlighted.
Pletenchuk believes that the occupiers are forced to take risks and proceed with sending these fuel tanks via the Kerch Bridge.
"This represents a slight change in how the structure is being used. In any case, it now plays a significant role for them," Pletenchuk explained.
The Navy spokesman also says that the barges near the Kerch Bridge in temporarily annexed Crimea, previously placed there by Russia, may have disappeared due to natural causes, such as storms. However, this information requires verification. Pletenchuk suggested that this is why the Russians tried to install the maximum number of various barriers and hydraulic structures ahead of storm season, anticipating such potential losses.
