The invitation to NATO should cover the entire territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, but the Alliance's actions may only apply to the part of Ukraine it controls, with future expansion.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview with CBN.

At the same time, he notes that Ukraine understands it cannot become a NATO member while the full-scale war continues.

"Ukraine does not want to involve the military of other countries in this war," Zelenskyy emphasized.

At the same time, the Ukrainian President adds that the war can realistically end only when Ukraine receives an invitation to NATO.

"There is no global security umbrella other than NATO. When we talk about a model where no one can come to your land, to your home with weapons, we are talking about the only model that exists today, at least among NATO countries. We see that they are not at war. Thank God they are not at war, but we are at war. And that is why we believe in these security guarantees — the NATO umbrella," he said.

That is why, according to Zelenskyy, Ukraine expects an invitation to NATO, which should be extended to the entire territory within internationally recognized borders, as this corresponds to the Constitution and international law.

"The invitation is given to the entire territory of Ukraine within internationally recognized borders, but the Alliance's actions may apply to the part that Ukraine will control, that it controls, with future expansion. The invitation to NATO is an honest answer to whether Ukraine will be in NATO in the future. This is the first step that gives a clear signal to Putin or any future aggressor," the Ukrainian President explained.
