Invaders Have Changed the Tactics: an Expert Speaks about the New Targets for Russian Missile Strikes
The percentage of damaged energy facilities varies between 35% and 45%.
Oleksnadr Kharchenko, the Director of Energy Industry Research Center, belies that Russian missile strikes now target power generation facilities in Ukraine, trying to disable the transformer substations that used for electricity output, rather than power plants themselves, as he said during his briefing at Ukrinform on November 2nd.
"The Moscow invaders have slightly changed their tactics: their missile strikes are now focusing facilities related to power generation. Moreover, instead of trying to damage the facilities themselves, like hitting dams or turbines, they now target transformer substations that are responsible for the delivery of electricity from the plant," Kharchenko stressed.
According to him, that it takes around 10-15 hours to resume power supply after such strikes, because parts of the transport electric network are actually being destroyed.
Furthermore, the expert reassured that despite enemy attacks, the Ukrainian energy systemis fully manageable, and rolling blackouts are currently applied according to controlled schedule.
