Energy facilities damaged by missile strikes can be restored, but it is a matter of time and resources.
"DTEK Energy" CEO, Ildar Saleev discussed this in an interview with TSN.
"Ukrainian energy enterprises have been experiencing the war since the first day of the full-scale invasion. Since the beginning of this year, there have been seven massive strikes on energy facilities. We are losing capacity. This leads to less electricity being produced in the country," he said.
Ildar Saleev notes that Ukraine has currently lost 9 gigawatts of capacity.
"Nine gigawatts is a lot. The peak load last winter was 18 gigawatts. So, almost half of last winter's peak load has been lost due to the aftermath of enemy attacks," the DTEK CEO said.
He explains that energy workers are trying to restore generation. The DTEK CEO says that everything can be restored, but it is a matter of time and resources. Ildar Saleev notes that some equipment will only be restored next year, not before the start of the heating season.
