Russian foreign minister, Serhiy Lavrov, stated that Russia allegedly is ready for a diplomatic resolution to the war against Ukraine, but wants to retain all the territories it has managed to occupy.

This was reported by Russian media citing Lavrov's statement in the State Duma of the Russian Federation on February 14.

"We remain open to political-diplomatic settlement based on consideration of our legitimate interests, based on the realities that have been formed over the years and which have now led to the current situation," - the minister of the aggressor country said.

"Lavrov also added that since 'Western countries' do not want to consider Moscow's interests and “realities on the ground,” “there are currently no visible options” for reaching an agreement.

"However, in the absence of serious proposals from those who declared war on us, and their unwillingness to consider either our interests or the realities on the ground, it is not possible to sit at the negotiating table. There are currently no visible options," Lavrov said.

He also stated that supposedly Washington and its allies "do not give up their dreams" of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia. At the same time, Lavrov imagined that the Russian army was supposedly “successfully operating” in the “Ukrainian theater of military operations” and allegedly "in the West, they are no longer talking about their victory, but about how to prevent Putin from winning."

The minister of the aggressor country also reiterated that the security of Russia and the Ukrainian territories seized by the occupiers "will be reliably ensured, and the goals of the special operations (war against Ukraine - ed.) in this context will be achieved," Lavrov said.
